学校简介
As New Mexico’s largest city, Albuquerque offers one of the most vibrant art scenes within the Sun Belt. Its eclectic blend of influences is evident when visiting Old town, the primary hub of culture and cultivation, where the stalls of Pueblo Indians neighbor high-end galleries displaying both contemporary and more traditional, southwestern art. Noteworthy annual events, including the Go Arts Festival and the New Mexico Art & Crafts Festival, highlight the city’s thriving artistic community, as well as ongoing First Fridays and “Artscrawl” in different neighborhoods throughout the city. Local artists, such as photographers Craig Roberts and Georgianna Martin and multi-dimensional artists Barbara Burzillo and John Garrett, are among many active artists who have greatly contributed to the Albuquerque art community. In addition to joining this enclave, art students will find a wonderful opportunity in the University of New Mexico’s Tamarind Institute, one of the most famous schools for printmakers, as well as other rich programs offered by the Art Center Design College. As Georgia O’Keefe came to love New Mexico for its vast landscapes and raw naturalism, so too will art students find endless sources of inspiration. In the city of Albuquerque students will enjoy a community that, once a former stopover on Route 66, is now a place where artists have come to stay and hone their craft alongside likeminded artisans.
