Students with an undergraduate degree in accounting generally can complete the program in one year. Students who did not major in accounting, but have an undergraduate business degree, are required to take six additional upper-level accounting courses prior to beginning the graduate MSAIA course work. The courses are:
Intermediate Accounting I and II
Accounting Information Systems
Fundamentals of Auditing
Cost Accounting
Fundamentals of Federal Income Taxation
Applicants who do not have an undergraduate business degree will likely require two years to complete the program. The first year is devoted to background courses and the second to the graduate program itself.
In addition to these background accounting courses, students without a business background are required to complete the following courses prior to any 400 level coursework.

APPLICATION
To apply for the Lehigh MSAIA Program, use Lehigh's online application system.
ESSAY
The MSAIA application essay should provide a summary of your career objectives and relevant work experience with reference to the chosen field of graduate study, and the leadership experience and skills you will bring to your peer group. The essay should not exceed two pages in length. This is your opportunity to set yourself apart from the other applicants, in your own words. The essay should be uploaded in the online application.
RESUME
Your professional resume should list your education and professional achievements. Include your computing skills. The resume should be uploaded in the online application.
GMAT
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required of all entering applicants except those who hold an academic doctorate, juris doctorate or medical doctorate. The doctorate must be equivalent to a U.S. doctoral degree.
GMAT scores will be accepted for evaluation as long as your official score is available through the testing service. Please indicate on your online application the date you are taking [or have taken] the GMAT.
GMAT test center, test information, and test preparation materials can be found by visiting the Graduate Management Admission Council ® [GMAC] website at www.mba.com.
Please use the proper program code shown below to have your official scores sent to Lehigh. Our office keeps GMAT scores on file for a period of five years. Official scores normally arrive at the Graduate Programs Office two weeks after the exam has been taken.

OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND WES REPORTS
The MSAIA program requires that all education from outside out the United States be evaluated by the World Education Services (WES).
In general, international applicants must have 16 years of formal education, including four years at the university level, to be considered for admission to the Lehigh MSAIA program.
All admitted students must submit an official transcript and degree certificate from their undergraduate institution, upon graduation. Official transcripts bear the signature of the university's registrar and the seal of the issuing institution. The official transcripts must be submitted to us in a sealed envelope and may not be opened by you. In addition, copies of transcripts should be uploaded to the online application.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
You will enter your recommenders' information through the online application. Once complete, a web link will automatically be emailed to the recommender. Letters from family members or friends will not be considered. Paper copies of letters of recommendation will not be accepted.
TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE® [TOEFL]
Applicants whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language®. Please note that the IELTS is not accepted.
An applicant's TOEFL test date may not be older than 2 years at the time of your application to the program. The Lehigh MS/PhD programs will continue to accept all versions of the TOEFL test as long as the scores come directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). Scores must be received directly from ETS to be considered official. Lehigh’s institution code number is: 2365, department code 02.

Please note: These are minimum scores and do not guarantee admission into a program.
College of Business and Economics Graduate Students currently average 600 on the paper-based TOEFL exam.
If an applicant has completed a baccalaureate or graduate degree or at least 2 years of full-time post-secondary education in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia or Canada, he or she may be exempt from the TOEFL. The applicant is not exempt if the language of instruction is English in a non-English speaking country or if you have lived in an English-speaking country. Information on the TOEFL may be found at www.toefl.org. Lehigh's institution code number is 2365.
*For the MSAIA program, English language skills are highly important to success in the program and an internet-based TOEFL (IBT) of 105 will improve your prospect of admission. Admitted applicants are typically required to complete the English as a Second Language American Business English (ABE) program before beginning their graduate program.
International students interested in applying for college-awarded financial aid will be required to pass a Lehigh University Test of Presentation and Speech Skills (TOPSS) test. The College will use the new internet-based TOEFL [iBT] as a screening tool for the awarding of financial aid to international students. In order to be considered, you must achieve a speaking section score of 28, and a listening section score of 20. All awards are contingent upon passing the Lehigh TOPSS test. Information on the Lehigh University TOPSS test may be found at www.global.lehigh.edu/esl.
FINANCIAL GUARANTEE
International Students must submit a financial guarantee demonstrating sufficient funds to meet educational expenses for the first year of study. Scanned copies of the bank statement or bank letters are acceptable. This document should be emailed to the Graduate Programs Office at business@lehigh.edu. The financial guarantee should be no more than 6 months old. Include a letter of sponsorship if the expenses will be paid by someone other than the student. The minimum amount you must cover to show solvency for immigration documents is $38,600 and includes the following costs:

Please note that $38,600 is the minimum amount you must show for immigration purposes. The student's actual expenses will be greater and does not include the $1,200 estimated for books and supplies, as well as personal and transportation expenses. Immigration documents will only be issued upon an offer of admission from Lehigh University and verification of your financial guarantee, TOEFL score, and $1,000 deposit has been completed and received.

The main emphasis of the MSAIA program is on business solutions. Students learn how to use accounting information and technology to improve business processes and forge business solutions. Focal points include:

Advanced technical information systems skills
Leadership and globalization
Students need twelve (12) elective credits to complete the degree. The Lehigh MSAIA curriculum enables students to use their electives to concentrate in a related area, such as finance, if they wish to do so. Students may count up to six credits of 300-level UG accounting courses taken at Lehigh toward the MSAIA program. These six credits include any 300-level accounting courses taken as an undergraduate with a grade of B or better that did not count toward any other degree or UG major.
