For most programs, prospective graduate students must take the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Exceptions include 4+1 MS programs (open only to Tulane students) and the MS in Cell & Molecular Biology (which also accepts MCAT). Applicants to the masters and Ph.D. programs should submit official test scores for the GRE using school code 6173.
International applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency, typically established through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Official test scores for the TOEFL use the school code 6173. The School may waive these tests for students who earned bachelor's degrees at universities whose courses are taught in English.

The Center for Computational Science offers a Masters degree in Computational Science in combination with a student's B.S. degree in Science or Engineering. This is known as a "4+1" program. Tulane undergraduate students can earn the masters degree along with their B.S. in just 1 extra year at reduced tuition. All engineering and science majors can apply.
The 4+1 Masters programs at Tulane University provide Tulane undergraduates with the opportunity to earn a masters degree in a single year following the completion of the bachelor’s degree. Tuition for the 4+1 masters programs in the School of Science and Engineering is 35% of regular graduate tuition.
