Application Fee Information

The application fee is $105 for U.S. citizens and lawful U.S. permanent residents, and $125 for all international applicants beginning for the Fall '17 quarter of admission.

Payment may be made by MasterCard or Visa credit card OR by check or money order.

The application fee is devoted to the administrative cost of processing all applications received, and is not refundable under any circumstances, regardless of the outcome, the date of filing, the time of review or if, for whatever reason, the application is withdrawn.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

To send an official GRE test score to UCI, please select institution code 4859.

There is no minimum required GR

Letters of Recommendation

You are required to have three letters of recommendation submitted on your behalf. The letters should be submitted by instructors in a discipline related to your proposed field of study who are in a position to analyze your abilities and academic promise. Letters may be submitted online or on paper via regular mail; online submissions are strongly preferred.

Academic Qualifications for International Students

Bachelor's Degree, 4 years.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants whose primary language is not English are required to demonstrate proficiency in English for admission consideration. A student may receive a waiver to the requirement for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-based Test (iBT) or a paper-based test (PBT) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) if they completed all the requirements for their high school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or an advanced degree in a country where the primary and/or dominant language is English and English was the language of instruction of the school where the requirements were completed.

专业介绍

The concentration in Computer Engineering provides students with a solid base in the design, development, and evaluation of computer systems. Thrust areas include computer architecture, software, and embedded systems, but the program is highly customizable to the specific interests of the student. The research activities of the faculty in this concentration include parallel and distributed computer systems, distributed software architectures and databases, ultra-reliable real-time computer systems, VLSI architectures, reconfigurable computing, computer design automation, low-power design, embedded systems, computer communication protocols, computer networks, security, programming languages for parallel/distributed processing, knowledge management, service-oriented architectures, and software engineering.

Two plans are offered for the M.S. degree: a thesis option and a comprehensive examination option. For either option, students are required to develop a complete program of study with advice from their faculty advisor.
