Admission to the MS in Analytics is highly selective. We are looking for exceptional students with a strong interest in analytics and a high level of ability that has been demonstrated by past performance on appropriate coursework and/or by workplace experience as well as standardized testing. All applicants are expected to have basic background in mathematics (at least one college-level course or equivalent knowledge in calculus, probability/statistics, and some linear algebra) and computing (at least one college-level course or equivalent knowledge in computer programming using a high-level language like C, C++, Java, Python, FORTRAN, etc.), as well as a four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent. Applicants must submit either GRE or GMAT scores, a professional resume, a personal statement, and contact information for three people who will submit letters of recommendation. TOEFL scores (minimum score of 100) are also required for international applicants; Georgia Tech does not accept IELTS.
Applicants who do not have sufficient background in mathematics and computing may still be admitted, with the expectation that they either learn the necessary background material on their own before arriving, or take one or more preparatory courses such as MATH 1712, ISYE 6739, MATH 1553, and/or CS 1301 when they arrive on campus.
Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation are gathered online as part of our application. You'll be asked for the following information:
Names of two to three people to recommend you (varies by program; most require three references).
Institution or business affiliation of each person.
Email addresses.
Waiver. (Most applicants choose to waive their right to review the recommendations. Once you have submitted your application waiving your right to review, you can't change your decision.)
As you complete your online application, you will be asked to list your recommender's name and contact information. Your recommenders will then receive an email, inviting them to complete an online letter of recommendation. If you have any difficulty with the system, contact CollegeNet at help@applyweb.com, and have your user CollegeNet ID number handy.
Other Documents
You will have the option to upload additional supporting documents when submitting your online application (documents should be .pdf files). Note that if you do this, you will not need to mail your documents at this time. But if you are admitted, you will be asked to submit the official documents.
Secure electronic certified transcripts (E-transcripts) should be sent to transcripts@grad.gatech.edu. This is a special e-mail address only for secure electronic transcripts delivered via National Student Clearinghouse, eScrip-Safe, Parchment, and Truecopy Credentials. Please check with the registrar or records office at your college/university to see if they provide secure electronic certified transcript service. (Transcripts sent as email attachments are not accepted as official documents.)
Any documents that are not uploaded with your online application will need to be mailed in one envelope (with the name of the applicant as it appears on the application written on the front) to Graduate Studies. Please do not staple, clip, bind, brad, or tie your documents together. Leave all sheets loose, and stack them in order. This will speed up the processing of your application. Mail all documents to:
