The below listed admission requirements are based on what we most often see from institutions within this country. However, when institutions provide a different grading scale or a different degree format, academic credentials will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine acceptable degrees and GPAs.

Briefly detail past extracurricular/community involvement, the responsibilities you had and the benefit(s) you gained from them.
What are your three greatest strengths?
What one personal attribute or characteristic about yourself that you would like to improve?
Tell us about a time when something didn’t go as you planned, how you handled the situation and what was the result?
Tell us something about yourself that isn’t on your resume that the admission committee will find interesting or entertaining about you as a person.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY: For International students seeking employment in the US: Realizing that the US job market is extremely competitive and challenging, if unable to secure employment in the US, what are your alternative plan(s)?
Essay 2: “Hire Me” Essay
Employers expect graduates from the College of Business at University of Illinois to have a set of skills including 1) excellent communication (both oral and written), 2) teamwork, 3) leadership, 4) analytical, 5) adaptability, and 6) flexibility. These skills are also critical to your success in the MSTM program. Consider the MSTM program as your “employer” for the next year and tell us in no more than 500-words what you have done to demonstrate these skills and why we should hire you. For example, write about a situation in which you applied one or more of the skills listed above.
Optional Essay
If you feel you need to explain an area of your application or if you have something you would like to share that was not addressed elsewhere in the application you may upload an optional essay. Please note that no preference is given in the evaluation process to applicants who submit an optional essay. (400-word maximum, double-spaced)
Unofficial Transcripts. The unofficial transcripts must include a transcript legend, grade scale or grade criteria. If an offer of admission is made, the Official Transcript(s) are required to be submitted upon arrival to campus.
Degree Certificate/Diploma If an offer of admission is made, the final Official Transcripts and the Official Degree Certificate(s)/Diploma are required to be submitted upon arrival to campus.
(3) Letters of Recommendation. Enter the name and email address of 3 recommenders. The application system will send emails to the Recommenders and request their electronic submission.

International Applicants must also include:
English Language Test Score TOEFL (from ETS) or IELTS score TOEFL scores must be sent to the U of I directly from ETS using Institution Code: 1836, Department Code: 00. For IELTS scores, you should upload a copy of your score card. Please note: If admitted on “limited status” due to slightly low TOEFL or IELTS scores, it is recommended to retake the test to gain a higher score to avoid being required to take the university mandated English as a Second Language (ESL) course during the first semester of study.
