Computer Science MS degree candidates must have completed the following undergraduate material:

Data Structures

Computer Organization

Calculus (one year)

Discrete Mathematics

Experience in a high-level procedural language (C, C++, Java, or Scheme)

Industrial experience in these areas may be an acceptable substitute for formal coursework.

GPA:3.0

To apply for admission to the MSCS program, you must submit an online application that includes:

PDF or scanned copies of unofficial undergraduate/graduate transcripts (you can submit official transcripts from colleges/universities attended at the time of admission)

Statement of purpose that should include career goals and expected outcomes and benefits from the program

Recent professional resume listing detailed position responsibilities

Three confidential letters of recommendation

PDF or scanned copies of unofficial GRE General Test scores (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission)

PDF or scanned copies of unofficial TOEFL examination scores from international students only (you will need to submit official scores at the time of admission); the TOEFL or the IELTS is required of ALL international students. The only circumstances under which it is not required is for international students who received a bachelor’s or doctoral degree from an English-speaking institution in an English-speaking country.

Acceptance to CCIS is granted upon recommendation of the college Graduate Committee after a review of the completed application.

Northeastern University’s Master of Science in Computer Science is designed to prepare students for a variety of careers in computer science. The program combines both computing and important application domains—enabling you to increase your broad-based knowledge in the field while focusing on one curricular concentration selected from a range of options including artificial intelligence, computer human interface, graphics, programming languages, software engineering, database management, networks, theory, game design, systems, and information security.

Learning Outcomes

Exhibit proficiency in the design and maintenance of large application software

Develop the ability to maintain network infrastructure

Build familiarity with basic algorithms and theoretical computer science principles

The Computer Science MS degree from CCIS enables you to:
