1.Degree Requirements

BA or BS from an accredited university. While prior academic coursework in finance is helpful, it is not required.

2.Tests

Must submit an official copy of a GMAT or GRE with test date.

Note: The Admissions Committee does not prefer one test over the other. Applicants may choose to take and submit either the GMAT or the GRE based on their personal preference.

3.GPA Requirements

We expect that the average GPA for our incoming class to be above 3.0, but we understand that a student’s GPA is largely dependent on his or her undergraduate major and school.

4.Academic Ability

We use your GMAT or GRE scores to assess your aptitude for the program but we will also carefully examine your overall academic record, your performance in challenging courses, and the quality of your undergraduate institution. Though it is helpful to have prior coursework in finance, accounting, and statistics, it is not mandatory.

5.Work Experience

We do consider applicants without post-baccalaureate work experience, but such experience is valued and considered by the MSF Admissions Committee.

6.Letters of Recommendation

We would like to hear what your mentors and colleagues think of you, and how the Georgetown University MSF program will benefit you. A letter from your current or previous work supervisor is ideal and waiving your right to review the letter will add credibility to the recommendation.

7.Admissions Essay

We want to know about you. Why do you want to be an MSF student at Georgetown University? What are your career goals after completion of the MSF program? Are there any “red flags” in your application? (e.g., a poor academic performance in a semester)

3.Official Documents

Unofficial documents, including test scores and academic transcripts, may be uploaded directly into theonline application and are sufficient for the review of your application by the Admissions Committee.Should you be admitted, you will receive a conditional offer and will be required to mail all original/officialcopies of these documents to the Admissions Office at the same time you submit your deposit to enroll.Transcripts must arrive in sealed envelopes signed by the appropriate university official. Offers ofadmission are contingent upon verification of academic records. Discrepancies between self-reported/unofficial documents and official records may result in an admissions offer being rescinded.

This essay provides you with ample opportunity to share with the Admissions Committee things about yourself not immediately evident in your resume. We recommend you take careful consideration when writing this portion of your application. Essays can be up to two-pages, single spaced. Below are questions your personal statement should address. We are interested in gaining insight from someone who can objectively evaluate your professional performance as well as managerial and leadership potential.
