All students must complete the courses listed below prior to enrolling into the Master of Accounting program. However, it is not necessary to have them completed when you apply for admission.

Principles of Accounting
(Offered by the MAcc program as an intensive 3 credit course in our summer Boot Camp.)

Preparation and use of financial statements to communicate information about a variety of economic events to both internal and external users. At most schools, this is a two-semester 6 credit sequence. Applicants with less than six credits of Principles must demonstrate that their Principles course is substantively similar to the William & Mary Principles course.

Statistics
Theory and application of basic probability, classical distributions, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and other statistical analysis (i.e., correlation and regression).

Intermediate Accounting I
(Offered by the MAcc program in separate intensive 3 credit courses in our summer Boot Camp.)

An intensive study of the generally accepted accounting principles for asset valuation, income measurement, and financial statement presentation. Analysis of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, together with the theory of valuation underlying the various accounts used in these statements. Such as challenging issues in financial accounting including leases, pensions, and income taxes.

Intermediate Accounting II
(Offered by the MAcc program in separate intensive 3 credit courses in our summer Boot Camp.)

Auditing
(Offered by the MAcc program as an intensive 3 credit course in our summer Boot Camp.)

Study of generally accepted auditing standards, with an emphasis on the application of technology, modeling, statistics, and other auditing procedures. Includes strong focus on reporting, ethics, and international practices.

Cost Accounting
(Offered by the MAcc program as an intensive 3 credit course in our summer Boot Camp.)

Applications of cost analysis to inventory valuation and income determination and planning and control of routine operations and non-routine decisions. This course emphasizes the relevance of cost concepts to modern decision tools.

Prerequisites

Applicants are invited to apply to the MAcc program prior to completing prerequisite courses. However, all prerequisites must be completed before enrolling.

GMAT

GRE/GMAT score reports are required for:
all international candidates
domestic candidates with an undergraduate GPA below 3.25 (strongly recommended not required)

If you plan to enroll after your senior year, we strongly recommend taking the GMAT in the spring of your junior year or in the summer between your junior and senior year. Test scores must be forwarded directly to the College of William & Mary Mason School of Business by Educational Testing Services (ETS); our school code is 9DDX743.

Academic Records

The Admissions Committee will accept unofficial transcripts for application review. All matriculated students must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended as a registered student prior to enrollment in the program.

Recommendations

Two professional and/ or academic written recommendations specific to your intellectual and professional abilities are required and can be submitted anytime in the application process. We accept recommendation letters:

Application and Fee

Candidates are required to submit an online application. A $100 non-refundable application fee (payable by credit card, personal check drawn from a U.S. bank or subsidiary, or wire transfer) is also required.
Application Fee Waiver: William & Mary undergraduates and alumni, active-duty military, veterans, and those who have served in humanitarian organizations such as the U.S. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, etc. are eligible for an application fee waiver.
